# Security Camera Installation Vancouver | VoltNet

VoltNet provides security and camera-system work for homes and businesses across Greater Vancouver as part of its broader electrical and network services.

## Published capabilities
- Indoor and outdoor IP camera installation
- NVR and DVR system setup
- Remote viewing and mobile access
- Commercial multi-camera systems
- Integration with existing security systems
- Camera placement and coverage planning

## Planning considerations
Camera placement should follow the actual coverage goal. IP camera systems may also depend on structured cabling, network switching or PoE, recorder location, connectivity and reliable power. VoltNet can coordinate those supporting network and electrical systems when they are part of the same project.

## How we approach a security camera project

1. Identify the areas that actually need useful coverage
2. Review mounting locations, pathways, power and network availability
3. Plan camera, recorder and remote-viewing requirements
4. Coordinate cabling and electrical work where needed
5. Install, configure and verify the intended coverage

## Common questions

### What should be considered before choosing camera locations?

The purpose of each view matters first: entrances, approaches, circulation areas and other important locations. Mounting height, viewing angle, lighting, obstructions, cabling and network access can then be considered around that goal.

### What is the role of PoE in an IP camera system?

Power over Ethernet can carry network connectivity and power over compatible Ethernet cabling to supported IP cameras. The network switch, cabling and connected equipment still need to be planned as part of the system.

### What is an NVR?

A network video recorder is commonly used to record and manage video from IP cameras. Recorder location, storage needs and network connectivity are part of planning the overall camera system.

### Can camera installation be coordinated with electrical and network work?

Yes. VoltNet works across electrical, structured cabling, network and security systems, so those supporting requirements can be coordinated when they are part of the same project.

## System handoff
A completed camera system should be checked for intended coverage, recording and remote-viewing access where included in the agreed setup. The exact handoff depends on the system and project scope.
